Grandma's Little Garden

v1.0 grandmaslittlegarden.gr

— Est. 1957 —

A little garden,
tended with care.

This is the visual language for Ο κήπος της γιαγιάς — a small flower shop in Greece that has been quietly handing seeds, stems and good wishes across the counter for nearly seventy years. The tone is warm, the spacing is unhurried, and nothing here shouts. Read it like a recipe that's been in the family a long while.

Warm Personal Earthen Hand-made Unhurried Generous Greek
01 Brand essence

Like walking into the kitchen where someone is already pouring you tea.

The grandma in the mark is the brand. She holds the watering can the way someone holds an envelope they've waited for. Her dress is the green of basil leaves, her hat the colour of late-summer straw. Everything around her is alive, but quietly.

The website should feel that way: a counter you can lean on, a shop that calls you χρυσέ μου the second time you visit, photos of plants taken in the actual back room — never on a sweep.

"Όταν φυτεύεις, φυτεύεις και υπομονή."
— When you plant, you plant patience too.
02 Colour palette

Sun-washed greens, blush blossom, and linen.

The palette is pulled straight from the logo: the deep forest of the wordmark, the olive of the dress, the soft pink of the rose, and the cream of the page beneath everything. Warm neutrals carry the most weight; colour is used like a sprig on a plate.

03 Typography

Three voices, one conversation.

A warm, organic display serif does the talking. A friendly book serif carries the long form. A handwritten note adds the human touch where it matters — never overused, always meant.

04 Spacing system

Four-pixel grid, generous on the page.

Every measurement is a multiple of 4px. Closer to the chip, the steps are small. Further out — hero, gutters, between sections — the air opens up. Whitespace is a houseplant; let it grow.

Token px Used for
2xs 4 Hairline gaps between sibling chips

05 Surfaces & shadow

Soft corners. Quiet shadows.

Cards round gently and lift only a little. Shadows are warm, not grey — they borrow brown from bark so nothing feels digital or cold.

06 Components

The small parts of the shop.

Buttons are calm and confident, never pushy. Tags feel like handwritten labels. The product card is the model citizen: photo, name, a small note, a price in display type.

Garden Rose Bouquet

Eleven stems wrapped in brown paper and a length of twine. Wild rosemary tucked into the side, because it always was.

a small note

Μοιραζόμαστε ό,τι μεγαλώνει.

Every Tuesday we bring whatever bloomed too much that week to the café next door. If you see flowers in jam jars on the tables — that's us. Take one home, no need to ask.

07 Botanical motifs

A few hand-drawn things that hold the brand together.

Use these like a baker uses flour on the bench: a little here, a little there, never piled on. They're the connective tissue between sections.

Divider

Between long sections in articles.

Wreath

For seals, certificates, holiday banners.

Seed pattern

Subtle background fill for empty states.

08 Voice & tone

Speak the way grandma would.

Use small words and short sentences. Greek and English live side by side, and that's fine — sometimes the Greek word is just kinder. Never sell hard. The plants do the selling.

Yes, like this

  • · "Tulips are in. They won't be in for long."
  • · "Free delivery in Κατερίνη on Saturdays."
  • · "If you've never grown basil, start here."
  • · "Pick the colour you'd give your mother."

No, not like this

  • · "LIMITED TIME OFFER — DON'T MISS OUT!"
  • · "Industry-leading horticultural solutions."
  • · "Click here to learn more about our SKUs."
  • · "BUY NOW. STOCK IS RUNNING LOW."

a closing thought

"Φυτεύουμε λουλούδια για να θυμόμαστε ότι ο χρόνος είναι δώρο."

We plant flowers to remember that time is a gift.
